What made you decide to become a doula?
Since 1992, when my husband and I became houseparents at a Philadelphia maternity home, I found it to be such a blessing to work with young pregnant women. As our family grew via home and hospital births and friends and family members began asking me to support them through their births I realized I loved working with expectant families. It is truly a work that I love!
What do you love most about doula work?
I love helping expectant couples realize the goals that are most important to them as well as fostering confidence in themselves throughout their pregnancy, delivery, and beyond.
What is your least favorite aspect about doula work?
The on-call lifestyle can be challenging so this is probably my least favorite aspect of being a doula.
Favorite thing to do when you are not on call?
I love reading, spending time with my family, and doing things that grow my birth business.
